FG trains 8,090 primary school teachers in Ogun

The Federal Government in collaboration with the Ogun State Universal Basic Education has commenced the professional training of 8,090 primary school teachers in Ogun state. The training is said to be part of the government's 2017/2018 Teacher Development Programmes for 8,060  primary school teachers and 125 Federal Teachers Scheme participants.

The state Executive Chairman of SUBEB, Dr. Femi Majekodunmi who made the disclosure during the flagging-off exercise held at the Nigeria Union of Teachers hall, Kuto, Abeokuta, said the capacity building program was sponsored by the FGN/UBE Consolidated Fund, for teachers in the basic education sub-sector.

He said the program would equip the teachers with needed skills that would make their work impactful.

Majekodunmi added that the training included childhood care development education training for teaching pre-primary learners, jolly phonics designed to the problem of literacy, pre-vocational training to enhance the entrepreneurial skills among learners.
