FG suspends secretary of secondary education commission over corrupt practices

The Federal Ministry of Education has suspended Prof. Benjamin Abakpa, the Executive Secretary of the National Senior Secondary Education Commission (NSSEC), over allegations of misappropriation of funds and other corrupt practices.

This was disclosed in a letter signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Andrew David Adejo. According to the statement, Prof. Abakpa has been directed to hand over the affairs of the office to the most senior director in the commission.

The spokesperson of the NSSEC, Fatima Bappare, who confirmed the suspension, said he was accused by the board members of administrative ineptitude, financial misappropriation, and lack of synergy.

The Independent Corrupt Practices and other related Offences Commission (ICPC) has been invited to carry out a full investigation.
