Some corps members from 2012, 2013 and 2014 batches on Monday received automatic employments from President Goodluck Jonathan.
The president also gave automatic scholarship to all those who would like to go for masters and doctorate degrees.
This came during the combined 2012, 2013 and 2014 President’s National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Honours Award ceremony held at the Banquet Hall in the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The corps members who benefited from the awards were 164; 55 from the 2012 batch, 52 from the 2013 service year and 57 from the 2014 service year.
Nine corps members in the 2013 service year, who were incapacitated and disfigured during their service year, were given given N23.5million as well as employment through the NYSC Hope Alive scheme, to enable them re-direct their lives after the tragic incidents that befell them.
The president during his speech said, “The concern demonstrated by the NYSC in identifying and recommending some of them for appointment into the federal civil service, while also assisting others financially to enable them cater for their needs, is highly commendable. We must take care of the needy without hesitation.”
Also the Minister of Youth Development, Boni Haruna, commended the corps members for their enthusiasm and hard work during their service year and charged them on the need to strive towards excellence in their chosen fields.
