The Federal Government of Nigeria has approved the operation of 5 new private universities after a rigorous screening process, in a bid to accommodate more students applying for admission into tertiary institutions in the country.
The new private universities are;
1. Macpherson University, Seriki Sotayo in Ogun State - University of Ibadan as mentor
2. Southwestern University, Okun-Owa, in Ogun State - University of Lagos as mentor
3. Elizade University, Ilara Mokin, Ondo State - University of Technology Akure as mentor
4. Evangel University, Akaeze, Ebonyi State - University of Nigeria Nsukka, UNN, as mentor
5. Gregory University Uturu, Abia State - University of Nigeria Nsukka, UNN, as mentor
