FG appeals to ASUU to reconsider stance on indefinite strike

The Federal Government has again, appealed to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to reconsider its stance on embarking on an indefinite strike saying the federal government has done the necessary things for ASUU to resume classes.

The Minister of State for Education, Goodluck Opiah, during an oversight visit to the Senate Committee (Tertiary Institutions and TETfund) at the Federal Ministry of Education on Tuesday, August 30, stated that it has become pertinent for the national assembly including other stakeholders to weight into the current crisis rocking the government and the academic union considering the government's investment in the education sector.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media/Public Affairs, Kelechi Mejuobi, Opiah argued that contrary to the wrong impression being held about the position of the federal government, all of ASUU's demands have been met.

He however noted that the government was unflinching on its policy of ''no work, no pay''.
