Fed Poly Nekede SUG notice on negotiation with management on school resumption

The Student Union President, SUG, His Excellency, Comrade Ambassador Ezeh Chukwuebuka Ebenezer has deemed it necessary to inform the Nigerian Students about the concerted effort made so far by the Presidency and SUG body to ensure that school reopens as at when due and to appeal for more time to pay school fees.

The SUG body headed by His Excellency had a meeting with the School Management on Thursday, 14th of January, 2021.

In this meeting, His Excellency made the already resolution of the union pertaining resumption and school fees issue known to the management as a proposal. The joint meeting of Students' leaders and Council of Department Presidents, CDP on January 12, gave birth to this resolution which entails the following;

✓ School should reopen for academic activities when is due.

✓ The remaining first semester examinations should be completed

✓ Extension period for Students to pay up their tuition fees once school resumes.

Recall that school management requested that the Students should come up with school resumption date and a deadline date for the school fees payment in their last meeting following the vacation of Students from the school premises due to the incessant protests.

However, The Rector; Engr. Dr. Michael Arimanwa reacted to these proposals with an assurance that they will be looked into and be responded to subsequently.

Therefore, His Excellency is calling on every students at this conjunction to pay up their school fees within this period. Pending to the responses of the school management, the commitment has been reiterated that any Students who fail to adhere, would have his/herself to blame.

"We all have it as a duty at this point in time to encourage our friends and course mates to pay their tuition fees, the idea of paying after graduation should be disregarded. Paying of school fees before examination is not peculiar to Federal Polytechnic Nekede Owerri, every other tertiary institutions in this country employ this same method."

Peradventure, let's remain safe, cautious and prayerful as the country is faced with the second wave of coronavirus.

As we await responses to these proposals from the school management, please let's pay our school fees so that we can get this unending 2019/2020 academic session over already, too much time has been spent on it

Stay safe and blessed
