The Academic Staff Union Of Polytechnics (ASUP), Federal Polytechnic, Ukana, has elected new executives to run her affairs for the next two years.
The election conducted today saw Mr Itoro Ekanemesang emerge as chairman, and Promise Akunna -vice chairman with Samuel Obamoh, as Secretary. Ol
Other elected officers were Olajide Aina as assistant Secretary General; Olulu Chikere Robinson,Treasurer; Moffat Ndifreke, Financial Secretary; Sunday Iji Internal Auditor; Oluchi Temple, Welfare Officer and Elijah Akwa, Public Relations Officer of the union.
Speaking at the end of the exercise, the Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr Udauk S. Ukekpe expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the election.
The Polytechnic boss commended the members of ASUP for demonstrating and exercising a high sense of decorum during the election. He urged them to dutifully carry out their responsibilities and also ensure they do not engage in anything that will tarnish the image of the Polytechnic, while also striving to promote their members' welfare and making it their paramount interest.
Responding, the chairman of ASUP Federal Polytechnic, Ukana Chapter, Mr Itoro Ekanemesang, thanked members for their support and privilege to serve. He assured the Polytechnic that he will carry everyone along with the aim of moving the union forward within the shortest possible time.
The election was conducted by the Zonal Coordinator of ASUP, Zone D, Mr Precious Nwokolo following the expiration of the former Exco in August.
