Admission Requirements
To apply for the HND Full-Time Programmes, candidates must meet specific entry requirements:
- A National Diploma not below Lower Credit (with CGPA not less than 2.50) and basic requirements for the National Diploma Programme in the applicant’s discipline.
- Possession of the specific SSSCE requirements i.e. WAEC/NECO/NABTEB/GCE O’Level for the programme for which the candidate is applying.
- Good performance in the Screening exercise to be conducted by the Polytechnic.
- Minimum of One Calendar Year Post National Diploma relevant Industrial Experience.
- Candidate’s National Diploma academic transcript must be sent by the ND awarding Institution for Candidates who did not finish from The Federal Polytechnic Ilaro.
The institution emphasises that admitted candidates will not be registered until the receipt of the ND Academic Transcript.
Application Process
Candidates are required to complete the Institution’s Application Form available online at the official website from Monday, 10th July, 2023. The closing date for the completion of the application form is Friday, 18th August, 2023.
Federal Poly Ilaro HND application form fee is N20,000 (twenty thousand naira only).
Step 1: Visit the Institution’s Website
- Begin by visiting the institution’s website at http://federalpolyilaro.edu.ng/.
Step 2: Access the Portal
- Once on the website, click on the Portal.
Step 3: Generate Invoice
- On the Portal, click on ‘Applicant’, then ‘Generate Invoice‘.
Step 4: Make Payment
- Take the generated invoice to any of the designated banks for payment. The authorised banks include:

- WEMA Bank Plc
- Polaris Bank
- UNION Bank Plc
- Ilaro Poly Micro-Finance Bank
- Access Bank Plc
- Zenith Bank Plc
Step 5: Fill the Application Form
- After payment, return to the portal, click on ‘Applicant’ and then click ‘Fill Application Form’. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete your application.
Important Points to Note
- Ensure the invoice and RRR (Remita Retrieval Reference) are obtained in the applicant’s name. The invoice should be generated from the portal and contains the RRR to be processed.
- All candidates are required to upload clear and readable copies of their credentials and testimonials or letters of recommendation in PDF format. Applicants with unreadable documents risk losing their admission.
- The screening examination will be conducted online. Therefore, candidates are expected to supply valid personal phone numbers and email addresses on their forms.
- The names used by applicants must correspond with those in their WAEC/NECO and JAMB documents. Any differences are not acceptable for admission.
- All entrance examinations are computer-based. Applicants will be notified about further details in due course.
- Applicants are advised to visit the institution’s website regularly for instructions, updates, and notifications.
Further Instructions
Candidates must consult the Institution’s Prospectus on the Website or in hard copy to ascertain their qualifications for the Programmes for which they are applying. The institution warns that candidates should not register for Programmes for which they do not have the requirements. Admission to The Federal Polytechnic Ilaro is provisional and subject to withdrawal if it is discovered that a candidate registered for a programme for which he/she is not qualified or violates any procedures and rules.
