Family demands justice for LASPOTECH student killed by a stray bullet fired by drunk officer

The family of a 21-year-old student of the Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH) is asking for justice following the untimely demise of the student.

The deceased identified as Farouk Yusuf was said to have been hit by a stray bullet fired by a drunk police officer at Fela shrine, Agidgbi, Ikeja, Lagos state on Friday, January 14. Yusuf was said to be standing outside with some of his friends when he was hit by the bullet fired by the officer who was also at the shrine.

It was also claimed that it was customary for police officers to fire shots into the air whenever they arrived at the shrine to announce their presence, but on the day of the incident, the officer nick-named Femi SARS was drunk and shot indiscriminately, hitting Yusuf on the forehead and killing him on the spot.

The police officers were said to have ran away from the scene of the incident after killing the student. Yusuf has since been buried according to Islamic rites.
