Family calls for prayers as 300-level kASU student remains in captivity months after her kidnap

The family of a 300-level student of the Kaduna State University who was kidnapped alongside hundreds of other travelers on the Kaduna-Abuja train has called for prayers as the student remains in captivity more than three months after the abduction.

The 21-year-old student identified as Lois Azurfa John and her cousin, Peace Aboi, 28, were among passengers kidnapped by terrorists who attacked the Kaduna-bound AK9 train on March 28, 2022.

While Peace was among the eleven hostages freed by the terrorists last month, the student remains in captivity. According to her brother, she is the only girl among four siblings and also the last born.

Her elder brother who spoke to journalists revealed that the student was on holiday in Abuja due to the ASUU strike and the family had asked her to go to Kaduna where she would start up a trade. She was kidnapped on her way to Kaduna.

A family member, Lucky John shared her photo on Facebook calling for prayers.

He wrote;

"Azurfa needs our prayers, please let’s pray for her safety in the hands of the terrorists. I believe you are safe anywhere you are."
