Engage In Reading, Lecturer Tells Students

The Head of Department, Dental Technology, School of Dental Technology and Therapy, Enugu, Mr. Oladimeji Sikiru, has advised Nigerian students to engage more in reading books to improve their lives.

Sikiru gave the advice on Monday in Enugu at the presentation of a book titled The Gold is Mine.

He commended the author, Miss Chidinma Ezeogbuka, a first year student of the school, for the initiative.

The lecturer attributed Ezeogbuka’s achievement, in spite of her tight academic schedule, to her “good reading habit”.

He said imbibing the habit of reading would enhance students’ academic quality and improve their skills.

The book reviewer, Mr. Joe Asogwa, described writing as a revolution, as well as an agent of change.

He commended the author and her parents, Mr. and Mrs Sunday Ezeogbuka, for supporting and encouraging her to write the book.

Asogwa, who retired from the Department of Political Science, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, urged Ezeogbuka to continue with the work of writing.

He said that the joy of any writer was that even after he or she had passed on, his or her works would still speak for him or her.

Asogwa added that the ideas of the writer would “continue to circulate as long as there is life on earth”.

He also advised other students to emulate Ezeogbuka’s example by reading often, so as to have ideas and knowledge of their environment.
