Indications have emerged that Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti would commence B.Sc Nursing programme during the 2019/2020 academic session.
The Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor (Mrs.) Olubunmi B. Ajayi gave the indication while receiving a team from the National Universities Commission (NUC), Abuja that visited the University for the resource verification of the B.Sc Nursing programme.
Professor (Mrs.) Ajayi gave assurance of the University’s readiness to comply with all conditions that would facilitate the accreditation of the programme, saying that the University was more ready than before. She urged the staff of the Department to come up with recommendations aimed at reviewing the curriculum to accommodate the suggestions made by the team.
Earlier, the leader of the team, Professor (Mrs.) Priscilla Adejumo noted that with the facilities on ground, there was hope for the University to pass the resource verification; but added that the University needed to do more in order to scale through the hurdles of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.

Professor Adejumo said further that the National Universities Commission was strict in accrediting Nursing programme to avoid putting in place sub-standard programmes. She advised the University to amalgamate the existing two schools of Nursing in Ekiti State so that Nursing could be run as a faculty in the University.
Prof. Adejumo also advised that the University should design the Nursing curriculum to accommodate SIWES and exchange programes that could expose the students.
The Provost, College of Medicine, Prof. Kehinde Oluwadiya led other management staff of the College to usher the NUC team into the Acting Vice-Chancellor’s Office.
