The Ekiti State police command has confirmed the death of one Sunday Oluwasola, a suspected armed robber who was beaten by some angry students of the Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti (EKSU), on Sunday evening, after a failed robbery attempt.
The deceased was said to have been apprehended following a robbery operation carried out by his robbery gang, armed with locally made barrel guns and cutlasses at one of the students’ hostels opposite the university entrance gate.
According to reports, the students had mobilized and confronted the robbers when they wanted to run away with their valuables. Other members of the robbery gang were said to have escaped unhurt with the stolen valuables such as laptops, phones, and other items, while Oluwasola was captured by the students and beaten mercilessly.
