The Ekiti state government has begun the disbursement of N96.14 million scholarship awards to 469 students in tertiary institutions. This was made known by the state Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Dr Olabimpe Aderiye in Ado Ekiti.
The Commissioner stated that the electronic payment has begun to bank accounts of the beneficiaries which include 31 physically challenged students, 288 undergraduates and 150 postgraduate students. The postgraduate students comprise of 71 masters degree students and 79 PhD students.
Dr Aderiye said that the undergraduates and the physically challenged would receive N60,000 each, masters students would get N250,000 each while PhD students would each receive N750,000.
The state government added that an agreement has been signed with the awardees to work with the government for two years after graduation, stressing that the government was committed to the welfare of all students from the state.
