Romanus Chidi Ejiaga, a Professor of History and African Diaspora Studies, has been elected the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State.
The erudite scholar who is the Dean, Faculty of Humanities was elected yesterday during the 78th extraordinary meeting of Senate, as he polled 85 votes out of 94 votes cast.
Ejiaga has more than 20 years of teaching, research and administrative experience in higher educational institutions in Africa, Europe and North America. His area of expertise is in developing and implementing educational tools and technologies in university classrooms.
He bagged a PhD in International and Comparative Studies, from the Stockholm University, Sweden in 1997, a Master’s Degree from the University of Lagos in 1987 and a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Archaeology from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 1983.
He has served as member to numerous Committees in the University system such as the Curriculum/Exam/Result Committee, AE-FUNAI, Council of Deans, Southern University of New Orleans, Chair, Retention, Tenure and Promotion, Department of Social Sciences etc
He has also authored 3 books, one monograph and chapters in 3 books and over 30 articles in learned journals
Ejiaga is a recipient of many honors, awards and distinctions. Chief among them are the Faculty Scholar Award, Southern University of New Orleans (2012), most outstanding Professor in the College of Arts and Sciences (2007), and many more. He is also a recipient of research grants from many renowned institutions like the US Department of Education Title 111 program, University of Illinois Research Board etc.
Prof. Romanus Chidi Ejiaga is a member of many professional bodies. Some of them include: Historical Society of Nigeria, Igbo Studies Association, American Historical Association, National Association of African American Studies, Association of 3rd World Studies and others.
