Hamisu Urges FG to Declare State Of Emergency In Education Sector

A retired Director of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) administration, Alhaji Sagir Hamisu, urged the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency on the education sector as necessary measures to address the situation and safe it from further collapse.

Alhaji  Hamisu stated this while addressing newsmen shortly after the 3rd year graduation ceremony of the FAMAKS International schools Kaduna.

He also attributed the lack of quality education to being a contributory factor to the insurgencies being experienced across the country, stressing that once the problems of education is adequately addressed and students are more engaged in schools than at home occasioned by recurring strike actions, it will be better off for the country.

He said, “If somebody is educated even minimally, he can be trained to acquire skills and will be gainfully employed. So when it comes to total quality education, then you are talking about excellent but less start from the basic education. Once we have that, I can assure you that there would be no insurgency.

“With education, you open the mind, create employment, create good citizens, you have good governance and every citizens will know his rights and privileges. And so there is no doubt that education should not only be the priority of any government or aspirant but mandatory for any government to give to his citizens” he stressed.
