Education Is Greatest Legacy –NB boss

The Managing Director, Nigerian Breweries Plc, Mr. Nicolas Vervelde, has described education as the greatest legacy to be bequeathed to younger generation.

He said this during the inauguration of new block of classrooms and library built by the company for Urban Girls’ Secondary School, Fegge, Onitsha.

Vervelde, who was represented by the Corporate Affairs manager, Mr. Kufre Ekanem said the company decided to invest in education to complement government’s effort.

He said, “The decision to build the block of six classrooms with a state of art library was informed by the company’s love for education as the greatest legacy to be bequeathed to younger generation for a sustainable development.”

Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State, who inaugurated the classrooms, thanked the NB Plc for its show of solidarity in his resolve to reposition education sector in the state, adding that his vision for education had started yielding fruits.

Obi also gave a cheque of N10m to the school management for renovation of some of the dilapidated structures within the school and promised to give the school additional bus.

The Principal of the school, Dr. Angela Obodozie, commended the firm for finding the school worthy for the ultra-modern classrooms with state- of- the- art library.

She also commended Obi whom she described as education-friendly governor, noting that his visit was the first time a governor was visiting the school and promised to utilize whatever was given to them to improve standard of teaching and learning in the school.
