Atimes, I weep bitterly for my country. The education system of Nigeria is collapsing every day, as a result of poor funding.
If there are fat and scandalous salaries and allowances for public office holders, who a times turn the legislative chamber into a boxing ring, and the same people can’t appropriate enough funds for our education sector, it is an indication and sign of a sick society.
Why calling the striking university lecturers for a roundtable discussion without moral courage to appropriate adequate funds to save this systemic failure? If we have enough funds to pay all unimportant advisers, why can’t we get enough funds for the education sector? Even if their children are not schooling in the country, they should leave a legacy that will make their children survive a new Nigeria. How many Nigerians can afford to send their children abroad with N18,000 minimum wage except members of the thieving political class?
