Edo teachers issue 7-days ultimatum over demotion of headteacher

The acting education secretary, local government education authority, Mary Oseghale has been given a 7-day ultimatum by teachers of Esan local government council over the demotion and deployment of Ikiakhele Agatha, the headteacher of Efandion primary school.

The teachers issued the ultimatum in a petition signed by the NUT chairman of Esan local government, Oriere Duba, the secretary Eyonse Martins, and two others asking the state executive of the NUT and the state chairman of SUBEB, to address the demotion and deployment within 7 days.

The teachers threatened to shut down academic activities in the local government at the expiration of the ultimatum, should the decision not be reversed.
