EBSU Shut Down Over School Fees Protest: How it all unfolded

It was on 25th of February 2013 the protest made by students of EBSU over school fees increase commenced.

Students protested because of the sudden increase of school fees, the school fees for last session was N60000 but increased to N118000 per session.

The four different campus in EBSU protested separately, starting from ISHIEKE campus. They started their protest on the 25th february 2013 by locking the school gates and they stopped all vehicles from moving, both on state and Federal road. The drivers started running away with their vehicles when they saw Students running towards them with log of trees, blocks, pipes etc.

The other campus being CAS, PRESCO and PALMSITE protested later that same day. Tyres and other material were burnt on this process as the Students paraded from one campus to the other, singing songs of disagreement to the increase in school fees.

Police, mopol and army soldier came, shooting teargas and shooting to the sky to scare Students away. This continued the next day but the third day was different, Police men came into the school to arrest Students. They even intruded lodges close and far from school for the arrest. The school classrooms was closed and Students were forced to leave the school before the massive arrest started. It was later that evening it was on broadcast on NTA that EBSU has been closed until further notice.

Please, Federal government should make things easy for the poor because if it is left to governor MARTINS NWANCHO ELECHI. They won't do any thing towards that, because he already said; "education is not for the poor".

I love EBSU, one love!
