EBSU set to embark on strike as meeting with Gov. Umahi ends in deadlock

The Ebonyi state chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), is on the verge of embarking on strike after a meeting between the union and the state governor, David Umahi ended on a deadlock.

The meeting which held on Tuesday, 19 January at Government House, Abakaliki, had in attendance ASUU delegation, led by its National Vice Chairman, Academics, Emmanuel Osodeke, and the chairman of the (EBSU) chapter of ASUU, Ikechukwu Igwenyi, among others.

According to Osodeke, his intentions of intervening in the dispute were unsuccessful as Governor Umahi instead of focusing on the issues, decided to engage in a war of words with Ikechukwu, the Chairman of EBSU chapter of ASUU.

Mr. Osodeke said the delegation will meet with the lecturers on Wednesday, before the union at the national level decides on what to do next.
