Ebonyi university medical students to pay N5 million as tuition

The Ebonyi state governor, David Umahi during the flagging off exercise of the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF) and state health insurance scheme in Abakaliki, disclosed that medical students of the newly established Ebonyi Medical University, Uburu will be expected to pay a tuition fee of five million naira when the university kickstart academic activities in September 2021.

According to Umahi, non-medical students of the institution would be paying between two and three million naira as tuition and other fees when the university begins operation.

A media aide to the governor, Francis Nweze, in a chat with newsmen on Wednesday, June 30 said that the fee is based on the quality of education that will be delivered at the institution.

Recall that the governor had in June 17, met with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), to seek the listing of the university ahead of its approval by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
