Following the dissolution of the Ebonyi State secondary education board over fraudulent practices on Tuesday, March 23, 2021, the state governor, David Umahi has further directed the immediate sack of all Zonal Education Supervisors in the state for their alleged involvement in fraudulent practices in the education sector.
The directives were contained in a statement issued by the secretary to the state government, Kenneth Ụgbọala on Wednesday, June 30. The statement directed that all the Education Secretaries that were on leave are to face disciplinary action to ascertain the level of their involvement in the fraud, and removed from office.
The statement also adds that all teachers, Headmasters, and Principals (both Junior and Senior) are to be reshuffled within their Local Government Areas, and the chairmen of the 13 local governments are to work with the appropriate authorities to carry out the directive.
Umahi explained that the directives are aimed at improving the state education system.
