Dowen College to remain shut as other schools resume today

Consequent to the death of Sylvester Oromoni, a 12-year-old student of Dowen College Lekki, the Lagos state government has said that the school will not be reopened on Tuesday, January 4 until the investigation into the death of the student reaches an advanced stage.

Recall that the school had earlier been shut down indefinitely on December 3, 2021, after the death of Sylvester Jnr on November 30, 2021. His family had alleged that he was beaten by some of his seniors for refusing to be initiated into a cult

As both private and public primary and secondary schools in Lagos prepare to resume for the commencement of the second term on Tuesday, January 4, the state government has maintained that Dowen College remains closed until further notice.
