DG Attributes Falling Standard Of Education On Poor Curriculum Implementation:

Alhajii Habib El-Yakub, the Director General of Kano State Secondary Schools Management Board (KSSSMB), has attributed the falling standard of secondary school education in the country, to poor curriculum implementation.

He made the remark at a one-day workshop on Teacher Curriculum Implementation Diary (CID) in Kano on Monday.

The Director General, who expressed concern over the situation, urged stakeholders to do something urgently in order to reverse the trend.

El-Yakub said the board had resolved to encourage the use of the Curriculum Implementation Diary (CID) in order to enhance teacher productivity.

“This will be achieved through an operational process that will reinforce teachers’ commitment, accountability and coverage of instructional workloads assigned to them by the curriculum,” he said.

He therefore urged participants at the workshop to make the best use of the opportunity provided them by the government, to ensure effective teaching and learning in secondary schools.

In his remarks, an education consultant, Mr Giaus Yadum, described Teacher professionalism and productivity as necessary for enhanced academic performance in students.

He said the teacher CID would ensure full implementation of the national curriculum in secondary schools. (NAN)
