Delta SUBEB calls for community efforts on school security

Community leaders in Delta state have been called upon to protect and safeguard government schools from theft and vandals in their environs .

The call was made by the Executive Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Hon. Sunny Ogwu on a visit to Esenabe Primary School, Bomadi recently.

The SUBEB boss, who was represented by the member representing Delta South Senatorial districts in the Board, Mr Paul Kurugbe frowned at the level of destruction on the school done by unknown persons, as metal doors and windows metal were pulled off and carted away with. Some other instructional materials were also stolen.

Mr Kurugbe charged the community leaders to ensure the culprits are brought to book while a welding workshop said to be encroaching into the school premises was told to vacate the site.

He further stated that government will take action against any community who would let her indigenes or residents vandalize government properties.

Speaking further, the SUBEB boss also called on school based management committee members to step up on their duties in ensuring community involvement in safe guarding school infrastructures in their domain adding that government on its part is not resting on its efforts to improve the education system in the state.

He disclosed that government was poised in providing both critical infrastructures and improved academic standard In the state.

Ogwu while stressing the role of education in nation building, enjoined all Deltans to join hands with the Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa's administration in the realization of his developmental goal for the state.
