Delta State Poly Warns Students Against Cultism, Exam Malpractice:

RECTOR of Delta State Polytechnic, Ozoro, Dr. Jacob Oboreh, has warned students of the polytechnic against indulging in cultism and examination malpractices, insisting that any student caught in the act would be rusticated.

Speaking, weekend, during the 12th matriculation of the institution involving no fewer than 3,700 students, he told them to take their studies seriously, urging them to desist from any act that could jeopardise their future.

He said: “Matriculation is an academic tradition by which fresh students subscribe to an oath and are formally accepted as bonafide students of the institution and your primary assignment is to take your academic journey seriously.

Do not be involved in cultism and examination malpractices as any breach of your matriculation oath may lead to your rustication from the institution.

My philosophy, vision and mission is to make the Polytechnic a world class technological institution where teaching, learning and research are directed towards meeting the challenges of Nigeria’s economy in the areas of social and technological advancement.”

While commending the state governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, for his commitment and support towards the development of the polytechnic, he listed some of his achievements to include the “construction of two lecture halls with 420 seating capacity and attached offices for Accountancy Department. Construction of Accountancy Laboratory furnished with 140 computers; construction of an I.C.T Centre furnished with 160 computers and internet facilities; construction of four lecture theatres with 420 seating capacity each for Business Administration Department.

“Construction of a 500 seating capacity lecture hall for the upcoming Mass Communication Department and construction of another 15 academic staff offices for Banking and Finance Department.” (Vanguard)
