Management at its Emergency meeting held on Monday, 8th January, 2024, considered the issue of deadline for screening, payment of school fees, and registration by stale and fresh students. While revisiting the issue, Management took into cognizance of the following:
(i) the report of progress on payment of school fees and registration by students was far from encouraging, as many students are yet to pay their school fees and register their courses;
(ii) the appeal by the Students Union Executive for the extension of the school fees payment deadline, as contained in its letter to the University Management dated 5th January, 2024 citing the financial burdens on parents/guardians and students occasioned by the current economic hardship in the country
(iii) the new curriculum as it relates to students registration which came out late for implementation had errors, which also slowed down the speed of registration by students;
(iv) the need for newly admitted students to properly re-upload their bio-data on JAMB portals to speed up the process of obtaining their Admission letters to enable them complete their registration; and
(v) Parents/guardians have incurred expenditures during the Yuletide making it difficult to appropriate funds, coupled with the fact that next monthly salaries for workers would be paid by end of January.
Against this backdrop, Management after extensive deliberation, decided as follows:
(i) the payment of school fees by stale and fresh students as well as registration in the University portal has now been extended to 5th February, 2024, and there will be no further extension; and
(ii) however, late registration/payment of school fees with a penalty fee of Ten Thousand naira (N10,000.00) only will commence from 6th February, 2024.
Accordingly, concerned students are advised to take advantage of this decision of the University Management by completing all issues relating to screening, payment of school fees, and registration of courses online before 6 February, 2024.
