The Department of Governance and Development Management is one of four (4) Departments in the Faculty of Public Policy and Governance (FPPG). The Faculty of Public Policy and Governance was created out of the Faculty of Planning and Land Management (FPLM) in 2020. The Department as an offshoot from the the Department of Planning and Management in 2016 to run various undergraduate and post graduate courses in line with the strategic plan of the University. The Department has since been running Diploma in Development Management, BSc. Development Management, Msc Development Management and MPhil. Development Management programmes.
The general aim of the Programme is to train versatile development managers grounded in theory and practice, equipped with appropriate tools and skills with the right attitude to building prosperous and sustainable societies, guide development planning and implementation management at all levels for the achievement of societal aspirations. The programme dedicated to the training of holistic development agents with the requisite impetus to facilitate development and change management at all levels of governance. These agents of change can lead diverse teams in complex situations to address development’s most pressing issues in an efficient and effective manner. The Programme combines coursework with development seminars enabling students to bridge the gap between theory and practice. The core curriculum of the MPhil Development Management adopts a multidisciplinary approach to the study of development management, including various disciplines and fields such as development finance, statistics, human resource management, development communication and management information systems, organizational management, strategic management, as well as development impact assessment among others. The Programme has a total of eleven (11) core courses and six (6) elective courses that are available to candidates.

Aim and Benefits of DAAD Masters Scholarships in Development Management
- The Programme is designed to equip students with the analytical, methodological and practical expertise needed to make a positive contribution to development planning and management in Ghana and beyond.
- In particular, it is intended to help students to acquire a range of skills and Techniques for the formulation of appropriate responses to a diverse range of problems, including those relating to productive capacity, inter-sectoral integration, economic and social diversification, self-sufficiency and how to design evidence-based strategic solutions.
- The programme also aims to produce development and humanitarian practitioners with enhanced ability and skills who will engage the development and change processes and challenges through innovative and critical approaches.
- By critically examining the theory and practice of development management and governance at the international, national and district levels in a variety of contexts, it is envisaged that upon successful completion of the programme students will have a good knowledge of development related issues and the ability to apply their knowledge to policy analysis and practical problem-solving in whatever capacity they are engaged in.
- Produce a corps of research-based academic professionals that would meet the demands of institutions of higher education.
Requirements for DAAD Masters Scholarships in Development Management Qualification
- A first degree with a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division) in a related field from a recognized University or Tertiary Institution.
- Applicants who wish to apply for the DAAD scholarship, must possess a First Degree with a minimum ofSecond Class (Upper Division) in a relevant field from a recognized institution of higher learning. Note that your First Degree certificate should NOT be more than Six (6) years at the time of application.
- At the time of application, all applicants must have completed their National Service and possessed relevant work experiences before they are admitted into the Programme.
- Applicants for the DAAD Scholarship must include a cover letter, explaining their motivation for applying for the Scholarship.
- Submit an official Transcript of academic records and a copy of previous degree certificate.
- The applicant must include a short research proposal in his/her area research interest.
- Applicants for the DAAD scholarship must include a copy of their application form as part of the scholarship application package
• All applicants must pass a selection interview to be conducted by the University.

All applicants for the 2022/2023 Academic Year admissions are required to use the UBIDS Online Admissions Portal. The procedure for the online application process is as follows: 1. Make a payment of GH¢ 120.00 (One Hundred and Twenty Ghana Cedis) for the UBIDS EVoucher for undergraduate programmes or GH¢180.00 (One Hundred and Eighty Ghana cedis) for Postgraduate programmes at any Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB), Agricultural Development Bank (ADB), Stanbic Bank and NIB Bank branches throughout the country or through mobile money service by dialing *887*18# To All Networks. 2. The E-Voucher contains the PIN and Serial Number required in completing the online form. Alternatively: Visit UBIDS online Admissions Portal with a MasterCard or Visa to make an online payment of GH¢120.00(One Hundred Twenty Ghana Cedis) for undergraduate programmes or GH¢180.00 (One Hundred and Eighty Ghana cedis) for Postgraduate Programmes.

Access the online form by visiting our online admissions portal soon after payment. i. In completing the online form, students will be required to upload their most recent passport size photographs and relevant certificates ii. A completed form is not considered until it is submitted. iii. Applicants are advised to check thoroughly all details entered before finally submitting their online applications. A form, once submitted, can only be viewed, but cannot be edited. iv. Candidates are strongly advised to visit any Ghana Post EMS Office in the Country for assistance towards the return of the application documents.
