Covenant Child Academy wins Education Times Award

Covenant Child Academy has emerged the winner of the 2013 Education Times Award for its contributions to the education sector.

The award was presented to the academy alongside the first civilian governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Jakande, for his contribution to education.

It was presented to them on Thursday in Lagos.

Project coordinator of the school, Mrs. Delight Oliseh, noted that the award was in recognition of the school’s hard work.

She said, “In the past, we thought no one took note of our hard work, but today’s outing has proved that hard work pays. With this award, we believe that the management will work harder because when much is given to someone, much will be expected.

“The award is an encouragement for us to do more, by progressing in our activities. With this, we believe we can go beyond nursery, primary and secondary schools that we’re presently running. If we can be recognised at this level, we believe we can still go far.”

She, however, urged government at all levels to support private school owners to grow.

According to her, giving support to private school owners would enhance the standard of education.

Jakande commended the organisers of the award, saying encouraging those who have contributed to the growth of education was impressive.

He advised government not to relent on its efforts to standardise education, adding that it was the best thing they would be remembered for.
