A High court sitting in Kazaure, Jigawa State on Monday, November 29, sentenced one Mr Makasusi Sunusi, a primary school teacher, to life imprisonment for defiling a 5-year-old pupil.
The presiding judge, Justice Hussaina Adamu Aliyu, found Sunusi guilty of luring and raping the victim, (names withheld), who is a pupil in his school, an offence which is in contravention of the Jigawa State Penal Code Miscellaneous Amendment, 2014.
The defilement was said to have happened far back in February 2021, and he was subsequently arrested and charged to court for the offence of rape.
