A Federal High Court sitting in Awka, Anambra state has dismissed Charges brought against six students and a lecturer of Madonna University, Okija, over a Facebook post.
The students and lecturer were arrested by the school management over a Facebook post which the school said portrayed the school in a bad light. The defendants identified as Opara Harmelson, Owhonda Badaziri, Abuno Jonathan, Chijioke Nnamani, Amaechi Benedict, Blackson Nwokeoma, and Tony Ezeimo have spent five months in prison custody over the Facebook posts.
On Friday July 24, the lawyer representing the defendants, Chinedu Igwe said that the prosecutor presented some documents from the office of the AGF on the grounds of a peaceful settlement and the charges dismissed by the court of law.
