Counting the cost of ASUP Strike

The ongoing academic staff union of polytechnics, ASUP strike has turned federal polytechnics to ghost towns.
At the federal polytechnic in Ado-Ekiti (ADO POLY), Business centre operators, vendors, photographers and commercial motor-cycle operators, who used to be around whenever students were on campus have disappeared because of the protracted strike.

All these people lamented the effects of the strike. Mrs olamide Dada a food vendor said before the strike, she used to make daily sales of N20,000 daily. But since strike began, she hardly makes N3000.

A cab driver, Rotimi Abiodun said he had not been able to feed his family properly because of the strike. Mrs Demola Adebiyi, a business centre operator and others, shared a similar view that their sources of income have been crumbled by the strike and consequently, their families can't feed well again.

They therefore called on the Government and lecturers to reach an agreement and end the strike for the interest of all.
