COREN Accredits Engineering Programme In UNIABUJA

The Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) has accredited undergraduate engineering programme in the University of Abuja.

The Registrar of the council, Engineer. W. Kamila Maliki, in a statement said that two of the four engineering courses had been accorded full accreditation while the other two have interim accreditation.

The courses with full accreditation are Chemical Engineering and Civil Engineering while Electrical and Mechanical Engineering courses have interim accreditation, now candidates who chose UNIABUJA in the just concluded UTME examination and upcoming UTME examination can confidently chose any of the accredited courses.

Deputy Registrar UniAbuja, Waziri Garba, quoted the COREN Registrar as saying that the full and interim accreditation status were valid for five and two years respectively.

The statement gave there will be random visits to the university within the period of validity to check on the state of facilities.”

While urging the university management to comply strictly with the recommendations contained in the council report to ensure that standards are not only maintained, but improved upon, COREN warned that accreditation may be withdrawn if there is clear evidence of falling standard.
