COOU Lecturer Abducted by Gunmen in Anambra State

A lecturer of Odumegwu Ojukwu University Anambra State, Prof. Silvia Okonkwo, has been abducted by suspected gunmen, on Wednesday, October 28, along Enugwu-Agidi/ Nawgu road.

The lecturer was kidnaped on her way to Awka, after having a Senate meeting with her colleagues in the school, and her movement cut short by the activities of the kidnapers.

The President-General, Enugwu-Agidi Brotherly Union (EBU) Hon. Ndubuisi Obijiofor, who confirmed the incident on Thursday October 29, said it was the second time a lecturer was kidnaped on the same spot, adding that the highly deplorable state of the road makes the users of the road more vulnerable to the attack of kidnapers.

The leadership of the Enugwu-Agidi Community urged the state government to come to their aid, by repairing the road to facilitate easy movement of vehicles. They also advised the general public to desist from plying that route as from 6:30pm because of the security threats, while they strategize as a Community to beef up security around the area.
