Computer Education is the Key to National Development

The Chief Executive Officer of ForteSoft Systems Limited, Mr. Dokun Oduyemi, has linked continued computer education to national development.

He stated this in Lagos when the company, alongside the NIIT, inaugurated an ICT centre at Festac, Lagos.

Oduyemi, who said the performance of individuals in businesses, especially in the corporate world, was a function of his proficiency in ICT, noted that the firm decided to work with NIIT based on its pedigree in the sector.

He said, “NIIT has, for over 25 years, served as the beacon for information technology training. It has set very high standards to attain and maintain the position of leading partner to governments and citizens, private and corporate, in the unique and very important area of ICT.”

Stressing the importance of ICT, Oduyemi noted that in a developing country like Nigeria, there was the need to empower its citizens to be able to compete favourably globally.

He said, “We are determined not to rest on our oars but strive to reach every potential worker, thereby making the business world more efficient and ICT-driven. The essence of this synergy, and what gives us joy, are helping you, the client, find greater success.”

He added that the firm would continue to leverage NIIT’s expertise and experience in training its clients in order to build a highly skilled and versatile pool of trained ICT professionals.

He noted, “These professionals will add to the intellectual pool and position Nigeria as the IT hub of West Africa and a leading information technology services player in the region. We believe in the power of an idea and encourage it. We believe in our clients’ dreams to succeed in the corporate world, and help birth them.”

The Lagos State Commissioner for Establishment in Lagos, Mrs. Florence Oguntuase, who commended the two firms, said the collaboration was in line with the state government’s efforts to ensure that it did not lag behind in computer education.

He said, “Lagos is a land of opportunity and I will encourage the company to work with the state on this.”
