The convocation was one of the first steps taken by the governing council, inaugurated in 2013 to address the several challenges confronting the institution.

Some of the issues the council would be seeking to address are, decline in curriculum and academic programmes as well as human capital and internal wrangling, which led to the suspension of projects funded by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund.

After graduating students had waited anxiously for the ceremony which marked the end of their academic programme at the college, the procession into the convocation square by the Provost, in company of the State Governor, Umaru Tanko Al-makura, signaled the commencement of the 1st convocation in 15 years at the college.

Some of the students who shared their pains on the delayed convocation for fifteen years post-graduation revealed that they have been stagnant at work due to lack of original certificate.

The Ag. Provost of the college, Mohammed Salihu, in his address, gave a breakdown of the graduating students and revealed the efforts the authorities had made leading to the convocation eventually becoming a reality.

For the Nasarawa State Governor and guests at the ceremony, the unfortunate relapse of academic activities for fifteen years must not repeat itself again in the institution.

The students had anticipated the convocation since 2013 when governing councils were inaugurated for all tertiary institutions in the state, including the Nasarawa State University, Keffi. (Channels)
