President Goodluck Ebere Jonathan has asked the lecturers of College of Educations to end the protracted strike and resume their duties.
This was made known to the public by the Minister of Labour and Productivity, Emeka Wogu, while addressing the members of National Association of Nigerian Students’ Joint Campus Committee in Abuja on Tuesday.
Emeka Wogu, stated that Mr President is determined to bring the education sector to a better state and as such has taken a step by asking for the strike to be called off and lecturers resume their duties.
He further said its painful that the education sector have been languishing for the past three decades, in his words "Mr President have had the plea's of the lecturers and is working towards solving the problems."
Chairman of the students’ joint committee, Mr Adediwura Adesina, pleaded with the minister to use his good office and ensure the strike is been called off, also stating he didn't want a situation were the students will be used as tugs by politicians during the upcoming election as a result of the strike.
