Catholic school accused of covering up the murder of a JSS1 student who died after being flogged by a teacher

Nigerians are calling on the appropriate authorities to look into the untimely demise of 11-year-old Izuchukwu Onwualu, a JSS1 student of St. Valerian School Akpaka, Onitsha who allegedly died a day after being flogged by a teacher of the school.

It was gathered that Izuchukwu was reportedly flogged at school last Tuesday, Jan 11, by his basic science teacher, and in the process, he fell and hit his head on the wall. The deceased was said to have complained of having headache moments later and was taken to a hospital where he died the following day, Jan. 12.

Following his death, it was claimed that the school management, led by its proprietor who is a Catholic priest visited the Onwualu family together with other members of staff and allegedly gave the deceased's father N200,000 to allow the issue to die down. 

The school then conducted a quick burial for Izuchukwu.
