Caleb University Closed Down Temporarily Following Students' Protest

Sequel to the protest at Caleb University reported on our news session last Wednesday, the institution has been closed down temporarily.

It was gathered that the protest which went violent, had the students destroying cars of staff and other properties in the school.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ayo Olukoju, while announcing the temporal closure said the protest by the students has necessitated this and said the school will resume on June 2nd.

In his words, “We have rules and regulations in the school and all the students agreed to abide by them. These rules are in the student handout. Before now, we have been applying appropriate sanctions against students who default in any of these rules. We wanted to enforce one of such sanctions on Wednesday before this crisis escalated.”

It would be recalled that the protest started when a Muslim student was said to have been rudely interrupted while observing prayers by a school staff.
