Caleb University best graduating student once thought of dropping out. Read his inspiring story below.
20-year-old Rita Uzoamaka Aladi emerged the overall best graduating student at the fourth convocation ceremony of Caleb University Imota, Lagos which held over the weekend.
Aladi, who graduated from the College of Pure and Applied Sciences in the department of Biochemistry emerged winner as the overall best student beating other 166 students with a CGPA of 4.80
Speaking with Daily Independent at the end of the convocation ceremony, she said she almost opted out of the institution because of serious financial challenges which really affected her other siblings too.
She explained that from inception in the university, her parents have been struggling to make sure she complete her studies, but as time went by the financial challenge grew worse but God saw her through.

According to her, “It has not been easy because I even thought I will drop out, especially when I got to the final year, then all hope is lost, but I want to thank God for my parent because they really stood by me and did all they could to make sure I complete my studies.
“Apart from the financial aspect which is the major challenge, another challenge I had was staying up there, because my Dean do tell me, your CGPA is good, but you have to maintain it, it is not easy maintaining a good grade, but you must work harder if you want to maintain it and to the glory of God that I did,” she added.
Speaking further she said she had never been the best in her life that right from her primary and secondary school days she has been an average student and that what encouraged her to forge ahead were her parent.
“My parents are the ones that actually made me to put in all effort that I can put in because when I looked back and I think of what they have been through for me and my siblings, you cannot understand there are so many things going on financially.
“But I thank God because just looking at them and what they have sacrificed for me and my siblings, I just thought what better way to appreciate them is to come out the best,” she said.
Speaking about her experiences in the university, she rated the university high, describing it as a good haven that made her to rediscover who she was.
“This university is a very wonderful place, if you can afford it. It was when I came to Caleb that I know who I really was, though I am still in the path of discovery but studying here was a very good experience. I don’t really have a reading schedule, but I make sure I revise after each class when I get back to my hostel I read.
Obviously elated by the brilliant performance of the eldest child of the family, her parents, who appreciated her for not letting them down despite all the experiences, Prince Alloy and Mrs. Pauline attributed her success to divine intervention. (Daily Independent)
