BSU preliminary vocational and technical studies (PRE-VTS) programme for 2020/2021 Session

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the Preliminary Vocational and Technical Education Programme, Faculty of Education, Benue State University, Makurdi for the 2020/2021 Academic year.

1.   Programme areas include:

a. Business Education
b. Computer Education
c. Home Economics Education
d. Industrial Technology Education

2.   Entry qualifications:
To qualify for admission, candidates must meet general and specific requirements to individual pre-VTS area of specialization.

a.   General entry requirements
Candidates are required to possess a minimum of four (4) credits in SSCE, GCE, NTC, NBC, C&G I or II, Federal craft Training Certificate TCII or any equivalent qualification as may be approved by the University.

A credit in English Language is compulsory.
 
b.      Specific Requirements:
i.       Business Education
In Addition to general University entry requirements, Applicants most have credits in English language, Mathematics, any other 3 subject forms Social Sciences and Business Studies related courses and Economics form SC/GCE/WASSCE/RSA Business Studies (Stage ii intermediate).

ii.      Computer Education:
Four credits level passes including: Mathematics, English language, Physics, Chemistry and Biology in SSCE/NTC/GCE O' level Examination.

iii.     Home Economics:
Four credits in English language, Mathematics, Biology, and any two of the following subjects: Home Management, Clothing and Textiles, Food Nutrition, Chemistry, Agricultural Science and Economics WASSCE/SSCE/GCE/O’level/NTC.

iv.     Technology Education:
Candidates must possess a minimum of four credits in WASSCE/SSCE/GCE/O'level or NTC NBC or Federal craft certificate. This includes credits English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and any one of Social Sciences or Technical drawing and technological subject areas such as Woodwork, Metalwork Electronic Electrical installation.

3.      Duration: Two Semester
4.      Method of Application:
Interested candidates are required to pay in application fee of five thousand Naira (5,000) Only, in bank draft made payable to Benue State University, Makurdi. The bank draft should be converted to receipt in the Bursary Department. Application forms are then obtained from the office of the Coordinator, Preliminary Vocational and Technical Studies (Pre-VTS), on presentation of evidence of payment of application fee.

Completed application forms must be returned with relevant photocopies of certificates and other relevant credentials to:

NOTE:
a.      Successful candidates at the end of the programme will be placed into the the following degree areas: B.Sc. (Ed) Business Education, B.Sc. (Ed) Computer Science, B.Sc. (Ed) Home Economics, B.Sc. (Ed) Technology (with specialization in Construction Technology, Electrical Electronics, Automobile Technology and Production Technology, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Woodwork Technology).

b.      Candidates who have registered for 2020/2021 UTME exams in relevant degree areas as in (1) above should apply.
