The Security Unit of the Polytechnic has called the attention of the Polytechnic Community to the current state of kidnappings in the country. The Polytechnic Security Unit, therefore, reminds all Staff and Students of the Polytechnic of the need to be security conscious Within and outside the campuses in order to assist the security agencies to curb the menace.
The Security personnel in a release urged both staff and students to adopt the following precautions appropriately:
“Be security conscious at all times and report any suspicious movement promptly. Outing at the outskirts of the town should be minimized or outrightly cancelled.”
“Students resident in the hostels are to remain in their hostels after 6pm. Hostel Porters are requested to do a daily head count of students in the hostels and forward daily report to the DSA.”
“Staff and Students should restrain from walking lonely paths alone and not be distracted with headphones or phone conversations.”
“Late and early traveling should be totally avoided”
“Be proactive. Promptly raise alarm wherever and whenever you notice or suspect an impending attack or security breach by person or group of people suspected to be armed herdsmen/bandits etc by notifying people around you and report to security agencies.”
Staff and students are further charged to be equipped with the phone numbers of the Polytechnic Chief Security Officer (CSO) and strongly encouraged to heed above advice to support the Federal Government in winning the war against insecurity in the country.”
