BUK NUGA Representatives to Receive N2.8 Million Cash Reward:
The Bayero University Kano (BUK), Vice-Chancellor, Abubakar Rasheed, on Thursday announced a cash reward of N2.8 million to the university’s representative to the last Nigeria Universities Games (NUGA) for good performance.
The Games were held at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun.
Rasheed, who hosted the athletes at the university’s senate chamber, gave each of the coaches N100, 000, while each of the eight gold medalists received N 100,000.
Each of the remaining athletes that won silver and bronze medals got N70, 000 and N40,000 respectively.

Addressing the recipients, Rasheed said the donation was the university’s token appreciation of the team for doing the university and the state proud.
He said Team BUK`s feat in the competition was a unique achievement for Nigerian sports.
The Director of Sports, Prof. Garba Musa, thanked the vice-chancellor for the gesture and applauded his decision to host the athletes.
Musa also commended him for promoting sports and academic development in the university and across the state.
Team BUK won eight gold, four bronze and one silver medal at the NUGA event to place fifth.
The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) won the event with 63 gold, 41 silver and 16 bronze medals followed by the University of Lagos (UNILAG) which had 13 gold, 10 silver and seven bronze medals.
The hosts Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) placed third with 12 gold, nine silver and 15 bronze medals, while Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) was fourth with nine gold, 10 silver and 11 bronze medals. (NAN)
