Bauchi to Implement One-Student-to-One Teacher Ratio

The Bauchi State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has reiterated its determination to become the first state in the country to commence the implementation of "the one student to one teacher ratio".

Executive chairman of the board, Alhaji Abdullahi Dabo, stated this yesterday while speaking at a forum organized by the state Universal Basic Education Board and UNICEF 'D' Field office on the dissemination of process evaluation review on Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT).

The chairman, who was represented by the permanent commissioner in the board, Alhaji Mohammed Isa Narabi, said the state government allocates about 30 per cent of the state budget to education annually. He lamented the poor performance of students in WAEC, NECO and JAMB, attributing the situation to lack of qualified teachers in the state.
