AUN to Resume Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 20

Last week, the Office of Sustainability Initiatives inaugurated a planning committee to celebrate the upcoming Earth Day.

Earth Day is a global celebration of our planet's ecological gifts, and of the environmentalists who dedicate their time and energy toward conservation and preservation.

Earth Day in the US is to be celebrated on Monday, April 22nd. At AUN, the environment-themed activities will start in the middle of the week before and will culminate on Saturday, April 20, when students and residents of our host-community may fully participate.

The Earth Day planning committee comprises faculty and staff members and students. It is chaired by Liliane Ayuk Tabe, Outreach Manager in AUN's sustainability team.

She said the global celebration of Earth Day is to reflect on our planet earth and its environment while creating awareness of the need to protect it.

Although Earth Day has been recognized at AUN since inception, it has not been celebrated in the last four years; the Office of Sustainability Initiatives has taken it upon itself to revive it at the University.
