The American University of Nigeria, AUN has sacked 406 staff in one day over bankruptcy and inability of the institution to generate revenue.
The affected staff, received a letter via mail on may 4, terminating their employment. A staff of AUN, who was affected by the sack and spoke anonymously said that, they were not given prior notice.
The letter was signed by the President of AUN, Dawn Dekle after holding several meetings with board of directors of the institution. The management of the institution gave reasons for the sack as lack of revenue generation.
It was also gathered that, academic activities weren't really affected by the lockdown as students of the institution were sent home before the lockdown, they finished their semester and wrote their exams online.
