ASUU strike to likely last for another three months as negotiations take a new turn

Despite ASUU's stance on not renegotiating the agreement it entered with the federal government in 2009, the government has constituted a seven-person committee to review the proposed draft of the FGN/ASUU Agreement.

The committee made up of academia from various public institutions in Nigeria, has been given a 3-month deadline to conclude the renegotiations process and submit the reviewed proposed draft agreements.

The committee is chaired by Emeritus Professor Nimi Briggs, pro-Chancellor, Alex Ekweme Federal University Ndufu-Alike, Pro-Chancellor, Federal University, Wukari, Arc. Lawrence Patrick Ngbale, representing the North East; Pro-Chancellor, Federal University, Birnin Kebbi, Prof. Funmi Togunu-Bickersteth, representing South West and Pro-Chancellor, Federal University, Lokoja, Senator Chris Adighije, representing South East.

Others are Pro-Chancellor, Federal University of Technology, Minna, Prof. Olu Obafemi from North-Central; Pro-Chancellor, Kano State University of Science & Technology, Prof. Zubairu Iliyasu, representing North West; and Pro-Chancellor, Niger Delta University, Wilberforce Island, Mathew Seiyefa from South-South.
