ASUU reveals some professors received N8,000 as monthly salaries due to IPPIS error

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has stated that the union is waiting for the government to conduct an integrity test on the University Transparency and Accountability Solution (UTAS), a homegrown payment platform created by ASUU in place of the government’s Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS). The union added that the Federal Government is making the negotiation impossible.

This was disclosed by the President of ASUU, Prof. Abiodun Ogunyemi on Channels Television programme ‘Politics Today’.

Ogunyemi noted that due to the IPPIS structure, some university lecturers are losing up to 70 percent of their salaries while some professors received N8,000 as monthly salaries for several months.

He also accused the federal government of reneging on agreements with the union since 2013 including frustrating the plan by ASUU to introduce an alternative payment system for university lecturers.

While calling for the understanding of students and their parents, he said that as far as they are concerned, they don’t have any issue with going back to work, but they want more sincerity on the side of government.
