The ongoing examinations at Kaduna State University (KASU) have been labelled a violation of the rules and regulations governing the conduct of examinations in academic institutions by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
Kaduna State University’s administration held semester examinations for their students a few weeks ago, urging lecturers to resume.
This came just a few days after Governor Nasir El-Rufai vowed to fire all striking lecturers during a live broadcast.
In response to the examination’s conduct, ASUU ordered KASU management to cancel all exams until the national organisation called off the strike.

According to ASUU, the examination must be re-conducted when due process has been followed.
In a statement signed by Abdulkadir Muhammad, the Zonal Coordinator of ASUU-Kano Zone, he stated that if the institution’s management does not cancel the examination, the union will be forced to file a petition with the National University Commission (NUC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission ( ICPC).
According to him, the current KASU theatrical exercises, which the University administration has confused and referred to as examinations, are characterised by non-coverage of course outlines and inadequate lecture contact hours.
He stated that non-participation of lecturers who taught the courses in the setting of examination questions and supervision, student involvement in invigilation, and non-moderation of question papers are all apparent violations of the rules and regulations governing the conduct of examinations.
“As a result, ASUU requests that all so-called examinations conducted thus far be discarded in order to maintain and respect the university’s scared system of evaluation,” he stated.
